There is a city in southern France near Nimes named Roquemaure that Aline, daughter of Gussie and her husband Thomas J. Hayman visited in September 1980 to see the Roquemore Castle ruins. In Paris a few days before they visited theProtestant Museum to verify the Reverand with whom the Roquemores came to this country. One was Pierre de Rochemaure, born about 1471 in Nimes. In 1496 he married Agnes Boileau. About a century later the de Rouchemores were still in Nimes. A Louis de Rouchemore, born about 1575, juge du presidual de Nismes, married Mil Anne Barriere. When John Calvin began the French Reform Communion, the Roquemores joined his movement, were called heretics and forbidden to leave. Some did manage to escape to middle Europe, Holland and England.
