John Lester Platt is a descendant of Thomas Platt who came to Texas in 1837. He is the son of Truman Platt and Maggie Lee Martin Platt Low and the grandson of John Thomas Platt. John (Jack) married Sereta Baker on January 1, 1963. He owns Platt Heating & Air Conditioning in Grapeland. He and his son-in-law, Lawrence Richie, work together in this business. Jack and Sereta have two daughters: Julie married Lawrence Richie and they have one son, Ryan. Lisa is a student at Grapeland High School. Jack and Sereta are active members of the First United Methodist Church.
