Murdoch Enloe Darsey and Luna Frank Hollingsworth were married on- June 24, 1915 in the home of the bride’s parents in Grapeland. They established a loving home and assumed their place in the community. They gave of their time and talents to the religious, social and civic organizations in Grapeland and Houston County. They had three children; Edwina, Frances Enloe, and Murdoch Eugene. Edwina married Jack Buford Long of Farmersville, Texas and their children are Marie, Joseph Darsey, Frances, and William Werther. Frances Enloe married Jack Stafford Pridgen of Grapeland and their only child is Brent Alan. Murdoch Eugene married Faye Beeson of Palestine and their children are Murdoch E. III, James Ryan, and Timothy Edward. Murdoch Enloe was the oldest child of George Edward and Lorena Murchison Darsey. He was educated in the Grapeland public schools and AlexandriaCollege, now known as Lon Morris College. He then became associated with the mercantile business established by his father. He served as manager of the dry goods department and also an advertising manager. He was not only regarded as an astute business man, but also as a community builder. He was instrumental in bringing new industry to the city and county and was a prominent leader in the entire eastern part of the state. He served as chairman of the agricultural committee of the East Texas Chamber of Commerce and when that organization began honoring hard working members by naming a “Man of the Month”, he was the third person to Be so named. As much time as he gave to his civic duties, he did not neglect his family or his church. He was very active in the Methodist Church serving as Sunday school superintendent for over 40 years. He also served on the board of directors of The Methodist Hospital of Houston. He was an eloquent speaker and was widely sought by schools, churches and business organizations. Murdoch was a past master of the Grapeland Masonic lodge, a Knight Templer, a 32° mason, and a Shriner. He worked with the young men in the deMolay, as well as serving as first scout master of the Boy Scouts of America in Grapeland. He also served for many years as the president of the Farriers & Merchants State Bank, which his father established. Luna Frank was the oldest daughter of Joshua Eugene and Luna Edens Hollingsworth. She had one sister, Annie Rainey Hollingsworth Ryan and an older half-brother, Edens Hollingsworth. Her father was also a prominent merchant and business man and was instrumental in the founding of the First Christian Church. Luna Frank was a talented and loving homemaker. She taught Sunday school in the Methodist church a number of years and was also very active in the First Christian Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the Grapeland Garden Club.
